Why Choose Our Private 2 Days Tour From Marrakech to Zagora

2 Days Tour From Marrakech To Zagora Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou → Draa Valley → Zagora Desert

Early morning pickup, around 6:30–7:00 AM, from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We leave the city and head south toward the High Atlas Mountains, where the flat plains quickly give way to rolling hills and rocky foothills. The road climbs through a series of winding bends to the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, at over 2,200 meters one of the highest mountain passes in North Africa.

We stop at scenic viewpoints for photos and pass through traditional Amazigh villages built into the hillsides, where you can see local life, roadside stalls selling minerals, rugs, and dried fruit, and the rugged mountain scenery. After crossing the pass, we arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, the iconic fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as a filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Your guide will explain the history of the ksar as you walk through its narrow lanes, admire the earthen architecture, and climb up to the old granary for panoramic views over the palm grove and valley. There is also time to browse small artisan shops selling local paintings and crafts. Lunch can be taken here or in Ouarzazate (not included). From Ait Ben Haddou, depending on timing, we may make a short stop in Ouarzazate, nicknamed the "Hollywood of Africa" for its film studios.

We then follow the Draa Valley, one of Morocco's longest and most scenic palm-lined valleys, passing kasbahs, mud-brick villages, and dense palm groves as the landscape gradually turns drier and more desert-like. We make photo stops along the way.We arrive near Zagora in the late afternoon, as the desert light turns golden.

Here we exchange our vehicle for camels and trek into the dunes to watch the sunset. On arrival at the camp, you are welcomed with mint tea and settle into your tent. Dinner is a traditional Moroccan meal, often a tagine, followed by Amazigh music and drumming around the campfire under a sky full of stars.

Day 2: Zagora Desert → Return to Marrakech

Wake up in the quiet of the desert and enjoy breakfast at the camp, with time to see the dunes in the morning light before saying goodbye.

then begin the return journey to Marrakech, retracing the scenic Draa Valley and crossing back over the High Atlas Mountains, with stops along the way for photos, rest, and lunch (not included). We arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where you are dropped off at your hotel or riad.

Customers Reviews about the 2 Days Tour From Marrakech To Zagora

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sarah E ( Canada )

We only had a couple of free days in Marrakech and this tour fit perfectly. The drive through the Draa Valley was stunning, with palm groves stretching for miles, and the camel ride at sunset was magical even though the dunes were smaller than we expected. Our driver was friendly and knew exactly where to stop for the best photos.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Marc D ( Germany )

Great short trip if you don't have time for the longer Merzouga tours. The desert camp was cozy and the food was delicious. Just know going in that the dunes here are much smaller than the famous Erg Chebbi ones still worth it for a 2-day trip though.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tom M, Australia

Perfect for our short stay. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Draa Valley's history and the kasbahs we passed along the way. The camel trek at sunset was a highlight of our whole Morocco trip, even at just 2 days.
